What are the aims of Itinerant Lifestyle?

This website is aimed at those people looking to alter their own lives by starting a business. More specifically those who wish to run a business, yet maintain sufficient free time for leisure activities (in my case I want more free time for travel). We will publish articles and useful links about new businesses, marketing, idea generation, finance etc. I hope to keep everything related to this topic, however we reserve the right to stray if we think it will help readers in any way.

Being the owner of your own business, you will need a lot of skills. Although you need not be an expert, it helps to know a little about each. Don’t be scared though, a lot of these are just fancy terms for things you probably already do without even thinking about it.

Taking a very simple example, you probably already prioritise things in your day and organise yourself to complete any number of tasks, lets say by making a simple “To-Do” list. By doing this simple organisational task, you have shown skill in self-management, decision making and project management. What we will try to do is bring these processes to a more concious level, in order to help you to understand WHY decisions are made and how they affect the success of your business / personal life.

We are in the middle of a recession, can I still start a business?

Now is a great time to start a business and become your own boss, for a number of reasons.

  • After living through a recession, you have gained some good life experience, and can handle the pressures and responsibilities of being the boss.
  • You have presumably tightened your belt, thus have proved you can live cheaply.
  • When banks begin to lend again, you can be in a good position to take advantage of credit.
  • There is no time like the present.

Who are you?

MeMy name is Roy Jones and I am a 29 year old, working in construction. My ambition is to run my own business. I have recently started my own business, a construction company, Mejia & Jones Cost Associates.

Over the coming months we hope to grow this small enterprise and gain a decent customer base. We aim to do this by focusing on solid business principles and tactics, more of which will be discussed within blog posts.
